Points Tabulation:
Points will be awarded in all Super Rugby matches on the following basis.

Win 4 points
Draw 2 points
Loss 1 point for loss within 7 points or less of the team that wins

Teams that have a bye will be awarded 4 points.

Determining semi-finalists/venues:

Position in the competition table shall be determined by competition points as set out above.

The top six teams will play off to determine the finalists. The winner of each geographical conference will qualify for the finals/playoffs. The next best three teams on the overall Super Rugby table will be awarded wildcard entrances to the finals.

In week 1 of the finals the two conference winners with the highest points will be rewarded with a week off.

The conference winner with the lowest points or the third placed team will enter a sudden death play off with the sixth placed team.

Quarter-finals

Team Three v Team Six - (QF1)

Also in week 1 the team placed fourth at the end of the regular season will play the fifth placed team.

Team Four v Team Five - (QF2)

The winners of the first week of play offs then go through to face the first and second placed team who had just had the week off in the semi-finals.

Semi-finals

Team One v lowest ranked qualifier

Team Two vs highest ranked qualifier

The first placed team from the regular season will play the team who won the match between the fourth and fifth placed teams in week 1 of the play offs..

The second placed team from the regular season plays the team that won the match between the third and sixth placed team. The final will be made up by the teams who won the semi-finals.

Determining final winner:

In the result of a tie 20 minutes extra time will be played.
If teams are still tied after extra time, the team scoring the most tries will go through.
If still tied, the team finishing higher in the round robin stage will go through.

Determining final venue:

The final will be played at the ground of the highest qualifying team successful in the semi-final play off leg.

If teams are tied after extra time in the final, both teams will be declared joint winners.

Two teams on the same points.

If two or more teams are equal on points in any position on either the Conference or Overall Super Rugby standings at any time during the regular season their ranking will be determined by the following steps:

Six teams will qualify for the Super Rugby Finals at the end of the regular season, as follows:

• Most wins from all matches

• Highest aggregate points difference from all matches

• Most tries from all matches

• Highest aggregate difference in tries for and against from all matches

• Coin toss (this will only be used to determine Finalists)

The following teams will advance to the finals:

· The three respective Conference winners, ranked according to the highest number of competition points.

· Three wildcard teams who have the next highest number of competition points irrespective of the Conference in which they play.

· The teams occupying the top two places in the overall standings will have a bye into the semi-finals with the other four teams playing-off for the remaining two semi-final places.
